Daniel Walker: Biography

Contemporary American classical composer Daniel Walker's music has been heard around the world on the concert stage, in film and on television.

Recently Walker's latest work Marco Polo: The Last Mission, a full length classical ballet had its world premiere in China on May 2, 2010.  Commissioned by Pierre Cardin and performed by the Shanghai Ballet, the historically based work is currently touring Asia as part of the company's repertoire.

Films include the stylish thriller Curiosity Kills the Cat, for which Carina Lau won the best actress award at China's equivalent of the Oscars.  On TV, Walker wrote the theme song for The Galaxy Railways, a hit Japanese anime series.

Additional film and television credits include feature films for HBO and Showtime and his music has been heard on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno20/20FriendsSex and the City and  The Annual Academy Awards Show.

Walker is currently completing initial recording for his new musical theatre piece Hei Cheng / Dark City, a dramatic urban tale set in the last decade of the 20th century in Hong Kong.

In addition to his busy professional schedule, Walker recently returned to academia, receiving a Master of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007.  He is completing his PhD at UCLA in the spring of 2011.
