Contemporary American classical composer Daniel Walker's music has been heard around the world on the concert stage, in film and on television.

Recently Walker's latest work Marco Polo: The Last Mission, a full length classical ballet had its world premiere in China on May 2, 2010.  Commissioned by Pierre Cardin and performed by the Shanghai Ballet, the historically based work is currently touring Asia as part of the company's repertoire.

Films include the stylish thriller Curiosity Kills the Cat, for which Carina Lau won the best actress award at China's equivalent of the Oscars.  On TV, Walker wrote the theme song for The Galaxy Railways, a hit Japanese anime series.

Additional film and television credits include feature films for HBO and Showtime and his music has been heard on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, 20/20, Friends, Sex and the City and  The Annual Academy Awards Show.

Walker is currently completing initial recording for his new musical theatre piece Hei Cheng / Dark City, a dramatic urban tale set in the last decade of the 20th century in Hong Kong.

In addition to his busy professional schedule, Walker recently returned to academia, receiving a Master of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007.  He is completing his PhD at UCLA in the spring of 2011.

Current Highlights:

• 2010 The Shanghai Ballet premieres Walker's Marco Polo: The Last Mission at the Grand Theatre in Shanghai, China on May 2nd as part of the 2010 World Expo opening celebration.
  
  

• 2008 Arranged the song Forever Friends which was performed during the closing ceremony of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
  
  

• 2006  Scores the film Curiosity Kills the Cat which includes the song Between the Earth and Sky recorded by rising Chinese pop star Jia-Jia.
  
  

• 2005 Composes music for the 77^th Academy Awards Show under music director Bill Conti, aired on ABC February.  

• 2004 Completes two commissions for piano, orchestra and voices - Xian Fantasy, written for a milestone celebration in the ancient capitol city of Xian and Confucius Capriccio, a three movement contemporary piano concerto based on the Analects of Confucius.

• 2003 Composes and arranges a full program of piano-orchestra music for renowned pianist Kong Xiangdong which was premiered in November 2003.
